Tea Exotica: Darjeeling


“Get me a black tea”, she ordered while having a discussion further on how to manage the blog and grow our audiences. “Are you listening?” she queried. “Hm. Black tea is to Darjeeling and Darjeeling Tea is to worldwide”, I replied. Puzzled she looked, thinking of me gone crazy about the blog. :P

“India’s Tea Hub! Darjeeling!”

“Thankfully back to senses!” she remarked.

Bibliomaniacs! Welcome To Darjeeling!

Dating back to the mid 19th century, the state emerged up as a hill station where the colonial British administration had set up a sanatorium and military depots. A part of Mahabharat range or well known as Lesser Himalayan range, Darjeeling a part of West Bengal is a place to attain sheer wisdom.

Hill up to endure the panorama of twin peak Kanchenjunga, with pink and orange shades as could be seen from the Tiger Hill, Darjeeling. Mountaineers be at peace at a place like Darjeeling, peaks like that of Mt. Everest, Makalu’s glimpses lit up their burning desire. Lose yourself to nature, and be accompanied by the river Teesta, Mahanada, Balason and Mechi, go folks with the flow!

Batasia Loop, a Himalayan railway track. Ah! Lovely is its surrounding, walk on the floral carpet and let yourself be engulfed by the freshness of the flowers around.



“Peace at heart, shall rest your mind” at Peace Pagoda, Darjeeling. Attain peace at the place where the creeds unite through heart and mind. And when it comes to Darjeeling, Buddhism shall not be forgotten, so shall the Karmaa Dorjee Chyoling monastery!



Chirping of birds surround your soul and sooth your ears at Suntalekhola, a water stream near the village under the same name. And where drips water, the beauty is exotic!

Let your feet not stop at the Carnival of Darjeeling; gulp as much as you can from the Darjeeling delights and bag up the memories of your visit to the Tea Land.

Tea being the bestseller of Darjeeling, the state also offers a wide range of handicraft items, Tibetan art items, to the cosy woollen wears for the place being a hill station.

The Darjeeling restaurants provides the visitor with mouth-watering dishes.. Thukpa being one, a Tibetan dish served at restaurant like of Dekevas. Add on more spices to journey, Alu Dum is another fab delight that can be tried. When it comes to spices, the red chilli pickle, Dalle, shall not be missed. So try some and share your experience!
